Real Luffas
We have raised luffa gourds for the past decade for use in a variety of artisan products such as goat milk soap, luffa firestarters, pet shampoo bars, and dishwashing/household cleaning bars. We give our de-husked luffa gourds a disinfectant immersion bath after harvesting. This is a weak household bleach solution intended solely as a light disinfectant. Luffas will retain much of their original coloration, and gourd coloration will vary by unit.
Our Dry Hollow Farm luffas are organically-grown and hand harvested.

Luffa Products
Luffa gourds require 200 or more frost-free days before harvest. These vines require lots of space and grow best on a trellis where they have plenty of room to spread. Once harvested, the husks are peeled to reveal a luffa gourd that can be used for skin-healthy, all-natural exfoliation. Harvested green, young luffas can also be added to soups or stir-fries for a delicious vegetable edible.

At Dry Hollow Farm, a small, family farm in western Tennessee, we raise organic luffa gourds as part of our farm production. Although we primarily use luffas in a variety of exfoliating soaps (see other listings for these), we discovered these unique dried gourds make excellent fire starters. Encased in scented wax, they quickly erupt into bright, hot flames to easily start any fireplace and fire pit blaze. These fire starters will burn for a full fifteen minutes.

Our luffa goat milk soap is loved for its gentle exfoliation and nourishing moisturization. Created with farm-raised, organic luffa sponges, this soap provides natural, gentle exfoliation. Our Honey Lemon soap, when combined with the gentle exfoliation of luffa, becomes an excellent choice for healthy skin care. We also use locally sourced honey for a skincare bonus! Our Tea Tree Oil soap contains antimicrobial properties (thanks to the Tea Tree oil) and soothing goat milk, which deeply and gently cleanses hands down to the pores. Our French Clay Citrus contains grapefruit, lime, and lemon essential oils in addition to french clay for natural cleansing, and our Turmeric Clove is a healthy-skin-boosting, soothing exfoliating soap. We love to use these soaps after time spent in the garden when we need extra, gentle cleansing to rid our hands of dirt.
Our small-batch, handcrafted goat milk soaps begin with raw milk from our flock of Nigerian Dwarf and Alpine dairy goats, raised on pasture and browse to produce sweet, creamy batches of milk with 8-12% butterfat content. We hand-milk our goats, never use growth hormones, and have over thirteen years of experience crafting soap and other personal care products.
Our bars of soap contain 22% goat milk plus our blend of olive, coconut, palm, grapeseed, castor, and sweet almond oils for nutrients and antioxidants that nourish all skin types. Each 3.5 bar produces rich, creamy lather for healthy skin from head to toe.
We never add water, nor use dehydrated or canned goat milk. Our use of raw milk protects the rich nutritional value of each bar of soap for healthy, moisturized skin.
Our organically-grown luffas add an exfoliating experience for dogs (and other pets), and in conjunction with raw goat milk, promotes healthy skin. We use only a weak bleach solution for basic removal of bacteria after harvest, so natural luffa coloration remains without the use of harsh, chemical cleansers.
