Dried Luffas make excellent flower or plant bulb protectors! When you secure a plant bulb inside the all-natural protector, the scratchy dried luffa prevents rodents from burrowing underground and consuming the delicious bulbs. Dried luffas allow ground water to pass through without becoming moldy underground. They are biodegradable and cultivated organically here at Dry Hollow Farm.
We use our Grade C dried luffas as bulb protectors. Grade C luffas are allowed to fully dry on the vine (usually for seed harvesting). which means they are darker brown than Grade A personal-use luffas, are scratchier and more rodent resistant, and will last longer underground. These qualities make them ideal for preventing rodent attacks!
Your purchase includes ten (10) dried luffa sections usuable for all flower bulb sizes. Our suggestion is that the gardener first soften the luffa in water to make it pliable, then hollow out the middle for bulb placement. Or, carefully use a sharp knife to cut away the luffa center for bulb placement.
